Techie's In The Work Place 2012

For many in
the technology sector and other industries, this will be the year for
productivity. The high life in the west now meets reality.
For the past 3 years we have heard many people saying we are coming out
of recession all is rosy and well in the garden. As like the favourite
family game show years ago 'Family Fortunes', you can just hear the
large buzzer, knowing that was the wrong answer!
For the past 3 years, the UK has continued to move into decline and
this year we will see the shedding of many jobs, as businesses in 2012
try and keep going to stay in the game.
The great days of the past, where members of staff could amble around,
pass the time of day, feed the cat, service the car and have a nap in
the broom cupboard mid afternoon are now gone!
If you see a strange person wondering around, passing the time of day?
Beware! It could well be the grim reaper of the head count department
in HR, as many businesses draw up a survival plan and decide on who is
to stay and go!
Forget the day's off and throwing anymore sickies, as everyone will now
be logged and with the technology of apps today, the boss probably
knows already, you are under the duvet.
And regarding the Queens Golden Anniversary, forget it! Even the office
for National Statistics is stating the day off to celebrate our beloved
Queen, will be to the detriment of the economies growth this year. If
one day spells disaster, I cannot see how we are going to be coming out
of recession do you?
How bad is the current economic climate on a scale of 1 - 10. Well
conservatively speaking about a -13 that has been forecast by the Met
Office tonight.
One idea we have at Riverside, as we always do try to bring a little
light hearted sarcasm into the melting pot of things. Start to walk
around with a book of Mandarin under your arm and make sure it is
prominently displayed and opened with a book marker on your desk for if
and when the boss turns up.
As we have to be politically correct these days. If you are a bloke and
the boss asks how's it hanging, look out through the window in a
serious but philosophical look, declaring the future is in the East. If
on the other hand you are a girlie and the boss asks how's your love
life going. Present a pleasant smile and ask what bag does he suggest
you should keep your Chinese translation book in so, you don't loose it!
If the office is cold and it looks as if you haven't been working, buy
yourself a packet of Fisherman's friends to bring you out in a hot
sweat just before the boss turns up, so it appears you have been
frantically working and do not have enough hours in the day.
Another idea is to strike up a relationship with the company security
guard, so you can get in before anyone else in the mornings and make
sure you are the last to leave at night. Within a fortnight you will
become a key holder and you can use the company PC's in the morning and
evening when declaring war online in the World of gaming!
