The Year of The Technology Dragon

Who does
make
and manufacture all your leading brand products today as we often hear
the words of 'cheap product, I bet made in China'.
For the past ten years most of the major branded products consumers buy
today are either manufactured in China, South Korea or Japan. Notable
names such as Apple, Belkin and many others have their products made in
these Countries, in fact 90% of technology products today are
manufactured in the Far East.
We often hear consumers and to a degree small businesses complaining
about products and applying an attitude that far East Asia products are
inferior. But the truth is and in most cases, many products come out of
the same factories and especially in China where they have invested
heavily as a Government in enterprise to meet demands of a hungry
consumer western society.
Whilst trade has slowed in the past few months as the economic climate
really hits home to many who are now worried about their jobs and the
future.
The Technology Dragon continues to develop and manufacture on a scale
never seen before with a population of over 2 billion people and in the
past 10 or so years purchased swathes of land with mineral and oil
riches in Southern America and Africa.
To put this industrial power into further perspective, they are
currently building one power station a week and turning out each month
over 8 million post graduates to a BSc standard and higher in Computing
Sciences, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering.
In the past year they have frequented our UK shores as both tourists
and buyers of property and businesses as they expand their horizons.
This year in Hong Kong they will celebrate the 46th Trade Expo
introducing the World to many new technologies, gadgets and gizmo's.
There was a saying many decades ago that we in Britain can engineer,
but the Americans turn it into a science. Today I think the saying is,
the americans made it a science, but the Chinese know how to
manufacture.
The hunger for wealth and development in China is remarkable. On the
western side of business, my colleagues and I are always joking about
the amount of holiday's and time off they have. I sometimes wonder who
are the poorer in society in relation to quality of life and
opportunity.
In the coming years we will see a continued expansion of the Technology
Dragon. I sincerely hope Western Society begins to change for the
better especially regarding the capitalist society connected to markets
that is in most cases, the only face the Far East sees.
When I speak with colleagues in China and in passing mention the hours
we work and how hard, they are often taken back and struggle to come to
terms with the real World in Western society as many struggle now to
compete and make ends meet.
